The Walled Lake Consolidated School District's Glengary Elementary is one of 12 PK-5 schools in the district. It's a couple of miles north of the City of Walled Lake.
Glengary is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The program highlights what department administrators say are exemplary achievements in both teaching and learning. Glengary is also a Positivity Project partner school. The program encourages students and staff to work toward beneficial approaches to teamwork by learning to adapt to things like humility and perseverance. Being supportive of the project is one way parents and guardians get more involved in their student's learning. Another is through the active Glengary Parent Teacher Association. The association is involved in both academic programs and fun extracurricular activities. The "Glengary Gazette" is a regular publication made available online by the school for parents to stay on top of school activities and events. School staff keeps the Glengary website current with learning information and an updated list of events on the school calendar. Some of the fun events for students include school pride days where everyone joins to support the Glengary Gators, scouting program announcements, a fun run, and the district-wide homecoming schedule.
All of those aspects of Glengary Elementary come together on a daily basis to help the school achieve its goal of assisting the development of lifelong learners.

I experienced excellence teachers at each grade level. There were many options for activities outside of the classroom, including Odyssey of the Mind. OM was a way for me to be creative and social while learning to problem solve both verbally and non-verbally.
