Mitchell Elementary School is a public school in the Plano Independent School System serving students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The Meteors love to show support for their school by proudly sporting black and gold, the official colors of Mitchell Elementary.
The school participates in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program, which is dedicated to closing the achievement gap. The school also has programs for students with special needs, dyslexia and speech difficulties.
Academically gifted students can get invited to test into the PACE program, which differentiates instruction for students who need a more challenging education. The program is motivational and nurtures both the academic needs and the social-emotional needs of students.
Pupils at Mitchell Elementary take core classes daily based on a curriculum that meets the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards. There are also art, music and physical education courses offered throughout the school week.
Parents can get involved by joining the school’s active PTA, and they can also participate in various volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.
