The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

The school provides the best academic opportunities in the area and creates a positive atmosphere for the students. Going here you are encouraged to do your best and push boundaries to make things better in the world. The staff in this school are amazing and work hard to make it safe and inviting to all. While there are some aspects of the school that need improvement they do the best they can with what they have.

I started as a student in JCHS in August 2021. The campus has proved to be very safe and very active in after school activities and clubs.

I was able to have fun through my extracurricular activities, but most of these are solely academic, like honors societies. I would like for their to be an after school activity meant for mental stimulus. The way the school does a lot of things is very inefficient, like taking around an hour every Wednesday to prep for the ACT (which most students and teachers will say helped nothing). It can also be said that lower-income students are at a disadvantage here, as class fees are very expensive, and parking passes are $25 every year. Finally, as a member of the band, I don't appreciate the difference in funding between sports and arts. Our football team loses most of its games, but the band was always there for support. Despite our growing popularity among students and parents alike, the band continues to struggle with funding, playing with dented instruments probably over fifteen years old while the football team gets brand new jerseys and equipment. Many of us are bitter about this.
I went to Jefferson County schools from 1976-1987 and had a great experience all the way through. As with any school system you have great teachers and a few that are there just to collect a paycheck. My son went through he Jefferson County School system K-12 and ended with honors when graduating.Je...
I was a graduate of this school and its sad that in the past four years I've heard and experienced nothing but horror stories about how the administration deals with the students. It's sad that the school has declined so much in the past 20 yrs since I graduated here.
My daughter started here a year ago and the staff and students are wonderful. They did great at making her feel welcome and accepted. Yes the school is under construction but all school are always under some construction. They are great at meeting her academic needs also.
I am currently a student here at JCHS, I moved here over a year ago from another school. I have to say, I was quite disappointed. The school is in terrible condition. Mold is a problem, many classes are in trailers outside, a portion of the school(building 8) caved in over the summer so now there is...
