Peachcrest Elementary School is located on Joy Lane in the Belvedere Park neighborhood of Decatur. This public elementary school serves around 850 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and half of the school’s faculty has at least 10 years of teaching experience. The overall goal at Peachcrest Elementary is to utilize the efforts of students, faculty, parents and community members to enhance academic, social and emotional growth through a meaningful curriculum aligned with Georgia Performance Standards. With an educational approach that maximizes the learning process and improves critical thinking skills, the school also offers a computerized reading incentive program called Accelerated Reader, the Communities in Schools program to increase parent involvement, and funding that helps with the acquisition of new equipment for students and teachers. There are also a variety of clubs available to students, such as the Reading Bowl, Spelling Bee, BETA Club, bird club, tutoring, band, chorus, strings, art and Spanish. Additionally, the school offers extended support to students and parents through a daily after-school program. At Peachcrest Elementary School, students receive a quality education and a lifelong love for learning.
