GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

DSISD is one of the better public schools I've gone too. The teachers and staff are easily the best part of the actual school itself. But the actual best part of DSISD are the opportunities outside of DSISD. the upperclassman pathways, that allow students to get college and work experience early, are really what make DSISD a school worth considering. The biggest issue with DSISD is easily the poor communication between admin and everyone else, and it's a massive issue.

I would like to see after school events take place because it would develop a school culture that does not currently exist

DSISD is a small alternative high school with endless opportunities. Student learning pathways are self driven with students opting for AP, concurrent enrollment, internships, apprenticeships, vocational learning and more. Competency based, project based learning and a culture that values a work life balance.

Our son made it four days before we pulled him. The marketing and tour were great but the actual school after joining seems like a dumpster fire. The school is tiny so if your kid isn't part of the one "clique" they are doomed to a year of isolation - no options. They require standardized testing to...

Due to the small class size the school feels like a family. The teachers also foster an environment that allows you to feel accepted no matter what difference you may have.

Choosing DSISD has been a brilliant life-changing choice for our son that we are thankful for every day. It is a diamond in the rough that seems to be a well-kept secret around town, so if you haven't heard of it you are not alone - but you are in for a happy surprise if you are looking for a small,...

My child came from an environment where he was bullied for being a little different. He was in need of special help. Since attending DSISD he has completely come out of his shell and his confidence in himself and his abilities have grown tremendously not only at school but at home too. He went on a...
