At Swigert International School students learn the importance of innovation, curiosity, and stewardship. Swigert is an International Baccalaureate that opened in 2010. It was named after the American NASA astronaut, Jack Swigert, who was among the 24 astronauts to fly to the moon. Swigert was a Denver native and graduated from the University of Colorado.
The school serves students between early childhood education and fifth grade. The curriculum at Swigert is created to provide challenging and engaging programs that ensure every student reaches their full potential. Each child receives exposure to technology, the environment, and the community.
Aside from general education, each student at Swigert is offered an hour every day of music, art, physical education, STEM, and Spanish. Classes are also provided for students who are gifted and talented and/or facing socially-emotionally challenges. Partnerships with community leaders and influencers are an important part of learning at Swigert International School. Experts in medicine, law enforcement, photography, fire fighting, and cultural history have all been presenters at this IB school.
Due to its diverse programs, student performance, test grades, graduation numbers, and setting, the school ranks #35 in Colorado Elementary Schools and #9 in Denver Public Elementary Schools, proving that Swigert International School is one of the best in the state.
