GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

It is an overall good school with great teachers and a good curriculum. It's not very large, but we don't get new kids often, so we don't get to meet new kids much. Extracurricular activities and sports are well encouraged and have solid programs.

Derry is a great school. Teachers go above and beyond to get you ready for life after high school as well as college. They're always there to support you and encourage you to do your best. There are many clubs and activities to become involved in, too. The district, itself, makes sure students love to learn, as the teachers help with that. As an upcoming senior, I wouldn't want to spend that last 12 years anywhere else.

The academics were what I would consider average, the only big difference would be the teachers you have. Some have different teaching styles that make it harder for some to understand, but nearly all will offer extra tutoring time if you ask. However, new teachers aren't being hired enough and many teachers, especially but not only in the music department, are severely overworked.

Our family’s experience with the school district is a good one. I believe that parents must be an active partner with the district to ensure a good outcome for children.

I have two children that went to the middle school and the high school. One really, really enjoyed her experience, was active in many activities, and graduated in the top 10% of the class. There were numerous enrichments for her at the school. The theater program, sports, sport's trainer program, fo...
