Hoover is a decent High School in the Des Moines school district. My experience there was very good. It's a very diverse school, and you will have a chance to interact with students from multiple cultures and backgrounds. However, there is a downside: Hoover doesn't offer many AP or college-level courses, and most of the time, students have to go to Central Academy to take that advanced course.

My experience with Hoover is very positive. I have encountered so many cultures and people just because the school is open for everyone. Hoover ensures to make everyone feel as included as they can. I enjoy how all Hoover employees are willing to help each and every student. They have many activities for every student and will always take consideration to each idea. They long to help us all achieve a good future.

It's alright... pretty average and very low in academics. Great diversity. Teachers don't expect anything from you really, and a lot of the projects/assignments (or labs if you're in chem or bio) are super lame and way below high school level. Really nice if you're a student tho cause it's easy to graduate lmao. Not the best college prep & counselors are kinda pushy to get you to join AP or honors classes. Oh, and lots of army dudes visit to recruit uneducated, broke high school kids :/

Hoover is working hard to include support from the community to help their students feel a sense of belonging. The principal works hard with the staff to help students know they are valued. For example community members were encouraged to come in and write notes to students to encourage them on thei...

It's a bit sad to see this high school change since I graduated in 1980. It used to be the top school, well, second maybe; had one of the best Jazz Bands, and a great swim and football team. Most of us went on to college and the school had a really good reputation. Demographics have surely changed,...
