Pembroke Academy, a tuition-free public charter school in Detroit, Michigan, teaches kindergarten through eighth grade. Pembroke Academy is a National Heritage Academies member that uses high standards, clear expectations and personalized teaching to help children thrive.
Placement tests help teachers determine a child’s education level, but Pembroke is about so much more than test scores. It emphasizes college preparedness, morals and character-building. To model compassion and courage, for example, the school offers community service opportunities starting in kindergarten.
Pembroke Academy encourages critical thinking with science, technology, engineering, arts and math, or STEAM. In addition to the standard curriculum, the school offers advanced classes and opportunities for leadership and enrichment through computer coding, Mandarin, woodworking, Black history, music, robotics and debate.
Young children learn about the natural world through hands-on activities like raising butterflies. They connect to their peers through book fairs, talent shows and school carnivals. For athletics, grades three through seven can sign up for soccer, basketball or cheerleading.

It is a good school with good academics, as long as you try hard. I have seen a lot of people struggle here because they don't try. There is also a LOT of drama or things that happen that tend to be alarming such as bathrooms constantly shut down from flooding. Overall the teachers are nice if you try and the classes are hard but they are supposed to be to help you learn
