I want to start by saying I moved to Dolores High School from a huge public school in California my junior year. California was filled with great diversity, yet everyone tried to be the same. Now going to Dolores, its the opposite. There isn't much diversity, given its a very small school, but I mean theres none. Everyone knows everyone, and theres a very specific group of people that go to Dolores. I like the school, I have a good group of friends, and I enjoy all the school spirit. However, I don't like how tight the dress code is, or the administration. Every school has pros, and cons so I don't really think much of it. Overall, I will be graduating from this school in May, and going off to college, so as long as I enjoy my time here and it gets me to college I will appreciate the school.

The best part of Dolores high school is the few veteran teachers there who go out of their way to challenge students and encourage learning. The worst things are lack of communication and the lack of any advanced classes. Once students get past Algebra II or basic English, they have to take online classes.

A much needed improvement would be the addition of tutor time given after school which students can depend on. Having a few days out the week for blocks of time for students to get the help they need. Teachers try to help students although this isn't always dependable because teachers also have places to be. Also having a wider choice of classes to take would benefit students who are interested in college and allow students to be exposed to more diverse subjects.

I can’t recommend anybody this school. Many other students are racist, homophobic, etc. I hear various slurs practically every day, and derogatory language directed towards minorities is incredibly common. The dress code, at first glance within the handbook, seems standard but some of the staff enfo...
