Cornelia Elementary School is where students of all abilities come together to define excellence. First constructed in 1962, the elementary school building received a large addition in 1999 and continues to provide highly rated education and inspiration. As one of six elementary institutions in the Edina Public School District, Cornelia distinguishes itself as being the home of Edina’s developmental cognitive disabilities program and using the Second Step social-emotional learning curriculum.
Students from kindergarten through fifth grade with cognitive or physical differences can learn and play at Cornelia Elementary School. Specialized classroom spaces, trained teachers and an accessible playground come together to help students achieve more. Cornelia Elementary goes beyond a typical special education program to promote personal growth and community wellbeing.
