I would like to see the school system offer more support and guidance for seniors interested in college. Help provide more information on scholarships students can apply for. Help the students apply to scholarships and also offer more career courses for electives. Take the no child left behind slogan serious.

My experience had some ups and down but overall my experience here for the past 4 years has been good. The support from the alumni is great and the academics are successful. We have a 94% graduation rate and we have been brought off the failing list because of 24'. The band is GREAT and big representation of the school. The football team needs some work but overall the sports are good. I would recommend coming here.

My years at Mattie T. Blount High School has made me the academic scholar, I am today. This school's background is rich in Africa American heritage. The teachers are like family, some who were once students at Blount High. I am grateful for attending, as it has increased my fondness for higher education and preparing me for the next level in my life. I am who I am because of Mattie T. Blount High, there is no other place I'd rather be.

This school was subject to a 2011 Federal lawsuit due to discriminatory suspension of students. They were suspended, not for behavior problems or fighting or even for academic violations. Some students received suspensions for 50 days simply for having a shirt that wasn't completely tucked in. In on...

Blount honestly needs improvement.I wouldn't reccomend it to any student who wishes to enjoy there high school experience. The band is pretty good though.
