Miramonte Elementary School serves students in pre-kindergarten to sixth grade near the southwestern edge of Mountain View. The school’s mascot is the Mustang horse and their motto, “Together We Can,” underscores the institution’s emphasis on cultivating peaceful interpersonal relationships and parent education.
Miramonte is a small public school with less than 450 students. It has a transitional kindergarten program that receives students from the school’s in-house Head Start program. The pre-kindergarten students in Head Start are included in Miramonte’s overall activities during the school year.
The school provides various extracurricular activities including a chess club, math field day, journalism club and an intramural sports program for the two upper grades. All students have access to the Miramonte’s library after school.
A unique feature of Miramonte is the abundance of beautiful murals on its buildings. The wall art includes nature themes and has positive messages about self-esteem and protecting the earth.
The school’s property also has picnic tables, a covered play area and a shaded field. Students also have access to a paved and line play area for basketball, foursquare and other games.
