GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Elgin High, is a small school. One where you know everyone and everyone knows you. I grew up here and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Getting to grow personal connections with students and staff was amazing. When you were upset, falling behind or just having a bad day, our staff and students were there for you. I never felt alone here. There are rough spots just like all high schools, but it was worth it. You grow up and learn with the people you've known the longest.

I have gone to school in Elgin since kindergarten. Overall it has been a good experience for me, even through my rough times. Most of the teachers are good at their job. There are a good amount of classes for students to take. They have college credit opportunities for students for multiple different subjects. The atmosphere of school in Elgin is better than most. The staff are almost all great people.

You are treated like family here and the teachers are very understanding and will wait with you if you don't understand something
