Fairview Elementary School (Fairview), home of the Soaring Falcons, is steeped in history. Dating back to 1899, the school site is among the oldest in Fairfax County. Though Fairview has seen significant upgrades since those one-room schoolhouse days, its faculty has continuously aimed to preserve its rich heritage and maintain the close-knit atmosphere that has defined the public school since its humble beginnings.
Today, more than 700 Falcons receive K-6 instruction here, enjoying a student-teacher ratio of 15-to-1. Embracing modernity, students use technology tools daily within their classrooms, publishing blogs and videos to the monthly “Classroom Chatter” newsletter.
Committed to engaging with the global community, Fairview is an award-winning National Wildlife Federation certified Eco-School, as well as a participant in the Global Classroom Project, working with partners in the United Kingdom to advance peace and prosperity.
Academically, Fairview hones its approach to support general education students, learners with special challenges, and students who require advanced services.
When it comes to clubs and extracurriculars, Falcons truly soar — participating in everything from running clubs, tumbling, and safety patrol, to band and strings, chorus, and hip-hop dance.
While you’ll no longer see a horse-drawn wagon drop off students like it did back in the early 1900s, the deep-rooted heritage and supportive community that Fairview has proudly fostered for more than a century can still be felt throughout its historic halls.
