Ferndale High School is on the western edge of the city of Ferndale. It is on Pinecrest Drive, a few blocks from Livernois Road. The school is on the same campus as Ferndale Middle School and the school district offices. There are 700 students from grades 9 to 12. The school has a student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1.
Ferndale High School is known for excellent academics and advanced options for select students. Among the many opportunities for students are STEM electives and 20 AP courses. The school also offers opportunities through the Center for the Advanced Studies and the Arts (CASA). This off-site center draws in select students across multiple school districts to learn at an advanced level. Another interesting aspect of Ferndale High School is that it offers an early college program. This allows students to even graduate with a free associate’s degree.
FHS is well known in the community as a place of academic excellence, and even boasts of a 95% graduation rate. Overall, students have many opportunities to learn in a safe environment.

During my past 4 years at Ferndale High School I have been apart of many organizations, clubs and academic groups. Each and every one of them made me feel like a better a person and I can definitely see the growth I've had since I was a freshman. There were good and bad days but that's a given for a high school. The important fact for me is that I have had way more good days than bad days and I appreciate FHS for giving me a good high school experience.
