When I first stepped foot into the doors of South Side Highschool it was nothing other then a monumentally life changing experience. At first I was really overwhelmed. Because how could middle school feel so recent yet so far away from me. I thought "South Side will be my fresh start". So I gave high school my all and it is starting to pay off. My school just started a college gear up program for freshman and I was really involved with it. Though it came with a lot of anxiety having to present Infront of my whole 9th grade class on a stage it made me realize how much I loved public speaking. I started to get really involved with the organization and I'm now one of the many leaders who helps greet the big people in fort wayne. Southside wasn't all sunshine. We deal with numerous fights and countless amount of gun threats. But among all the loudness there is a calmness that is the knowing that everyone is growing and trying to become better.

I honestly believe it has the potential to be a great school, the facilities and stuff is there but the discipline and sense of commitment amongst students is something the school lacks quite a lot, with the exception of some people. But overall a solid choice

I don't like South Side because they don't give my daughter well educated classes that can help her with her learning. She's very smart, but they don't give her better classes and instead give the lowest level classes to her that won't be as beneficial. Her counselor doesn't help her enough. I appreciate, however, how the teachers she receives try to help and teach my daughter any way they can.

I've come from a few different schools now, both of which were "early college" schools providing a plethora of advanced college courses and busy work schedules. When I came to Southside I expected to not be challenged. But, it proved my assumption wrong. This school has challenging courses regardles...

Apologies for the long review!South Side often gets a bad reputation, but I don't believe that this is fair. Yes, not all teachers are perfect, and neither is the administration, but the students aren't perfect either. It can be a challenge managing a school where the student body is so diverse and...

If I could score Southside high school with zero stars I would. First the guidance administration doesn't even know the students that they're supposed to be guiding nor do they help them figure out what they want to do and help prepare for college. They are basically there for students to come talk...
