Some teachers are seriously awesome. They're passionate and they really try to help us. There are a lot of clubs and activities. If you're bored, it's your own fault. There's the drama club, the football team, the chess club... there's plenty to do. The vibe is pretty good. There are always cliques and drama, but overall, people are nice.

James Monroe High School has many positive aspects. It's very culturally diverse, the sports teams are talented, and the music/arts department is impressive. JMHS is centered in a lovely town with the many resources that the University of Mary Washington offers nearby. However, there are some negative aspects regarding safety and career readiness. Overall, JMHS is an eye-opening and unique experience.

I moved to James Monroe Junior year and my overall experience has been pretty positive though I was disappointed to find that they didn't offer AP calculus and DE: Physics for my senior year.

They don't care for the health and safety of their students. Their education is lacking because they spend too much time reviewing previous years instead focusing on the information necessary for success after high school. Then the fact that 2 bomb threats have been received in the span of a week an...

I was a teacher at this high school for two years and it was the most miserable job of my life. I had previously taught for over five years and the students were not the problem. The leadership is, from the top down. The superintendent is a complete figurehead and more of a puppet of the school boar...

Socially, I've had a relatively pleasant experience at James Monroe -- no instances of bullying or explicit exclusion -- and I definitely have memories at that place. Academically, my time has either been just inconsistent or consistently poor -- with the exception of my time with a select group of...
