GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have been pushed to excel in my classes and to take AP courses. My counselor has set me up for the next level of success even though I sometimes did not want to take harder classes. When I did my college-ready first review, I was so glad I was pushed academically. As a teenager, I wanted to focus on sports, but I had to accept that my grades would take me further than sports. My high school has prepared me for college, and hopefully, I will get scholarships to go to college because of my academic success.

The best part of my experience at Freedom High School has been being able to connect with friends an my classmates by participating in sports and the many clubs offered. I would like to see the cleanliness and the organization improve.

The school is very diverse and most students appreciate each others cultures. The staff is overall great and are always there to help you.

The bullying is terrible, it’s all I can focus on sometimes and has ruined senior year for me

I withdrew my oldest. My other two will never step foot in there.

Four of my children have attended this school. Hands down this is the most diverse school in our county for which I am grateful. Also, the gifted students program at Freedom possesses a rigor and excellence lacking in other schools in our county. College bound students are well prepared for the next...

Freedom is a most excellent, diverse, student oriented High School where the students excell both academiclly and athletically as well as in the arts (Band program is one of the best in Western North Carolina.)
