GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My overall experience is prominent. They have college-level courses you, lots of clubs, and many class options you can choose for your career path. I had moved to Johnston County and every morning I woke up to drive 35 mins to get to Garner because I refused to transfer high schools.

My experience has been tolerable. I keep to myself, but it is oftentimes difficult to focus and be able to hear our teachers when students choose to talk. The best part of my experience has been the band program. I learned everything I know from my current band director, and he is now aiding me in my goal of a Music Education Degree. Our college advisor is knowledgeable and does her best to help each rising college freshman to the best of her ability.

I really enjoy this school because the teachers are nice and try to stay connected to their students. They had recently remodeled the school, which is nice. The only thing I would like to see change would be the stairwells. They are always crowded because they were made too small.

If you are in IB, GMHS might be worthwhile. If not, good luck. The principal was largely unknown to the students and has not created a positive climate at all. The morale was terrible among the teachers. The administration repeatedly set policies, just to ignore them and then create another one. Und...

Teachers aren’t that great :/ a lot of them don’t help you when you ask and then go and complain about how you should be teaching yourself the material. And then they continue to complain about test scores. Also the teachers couldn’t care less about your mental health. The only one that cares is the...

I have very mixed feelings about Garner High school. I went there for 3 of my 4 High school years and I can tell you that they have some things worse than other schools, amd some things that are better. For example, the racial divide is awful and the political climate from this years election has li...
