Description: Serving students in grades 6 through 8, Gililland Middle School (GMS) is part of Tempe’s District 3 system. More than 800 students attend Gililland, which offers an inclusive and broad curriculum and special activities. Like many of the schools in Tempe, the student body is diverse and the administration is committed to fostering respect for differences and collaboration. “ALL means ALL” is at the heart of the Gililland Middle School’s philosophy, which stresses personal connections between students and staff. Each student is encouraged to feel a part of something unique. A new campus is planned for 2023 and will include new buildings with instructional technologies, enclosed bridgeways between the buildings and improved athletic fields. The students at GMS are a big part of this effort and the school has even created a Construction Club, so the kids who attend can feel Like a key part of the process. Students are learning vital skills Like building design and programming, computer-based drawing and even trade skills, which they’ll apply to help build a garden shed for the expanded property. About 92 percent of the GMS student body is categorized as minorities and the teacher/student ratio currently stands at 16:1, slightly lower than the Tempe district.

It was the only school in the district to have no uniforms! The people were great. Teachers were great! Mrs.Hanke was the best! also Mrs.Calderon!

I have had 2 children go through this school, one in an average/honors setting and one in an IEP setting. Both were not challenged in the curriculum. My IEP student was being given 4th-grade work in a 6th-grade setting when it was not part of his plan. Unfortunately, there are no options as there is...

This school is okay and i think they have alot of things to work on and they cant expect us to do good if they arnt doing themselves expesially these teachers attitudes because they have no reason to sya the things they sa and do sometimes because some times it unecsesary
