Overall, Gilroy High School was a one-of-a-kind experience. Sadly, everyone seemed to be so divided. From race to certain social cliques. The administration wasn't the nicest, not even to parents. But the way they set up classes that make students reach requirements to get into college is great. Like everywhere, there can always be improvement. I would love to see students leave with a better quality of life in the future.

This is based on my personal experience. First, I have personally had great teachers which may be due to taking challenging courses such as AP and honor classes. The teachers I have gotten have been respectful, kind and helpful whenever I had any questions, whether that be before, during or after class. Don't get me wrong I have heard students complain about some of the teachers, but I don't have anything bad to say about the teachers I have had. Second, something I loved about this school is the amount of help the counselors give. They schedule one on one meetings to talk about future plans you may have, making it a safe space to ask for help with college applications. They hold college workshops to answer and help with college applications. However, some of the bad experiences I have had have been more due to the students. Some students vape and smoke in the bathrooms, there is wet toilet paper that is thrown to the ceilings. I will say though it has gotten a lot better this year.

One of my teachers disappeared last year and we had a sub for the majority of the year. Some of the teachers are excellent at teaching, some aren't so great. There is a major shortage of staff, and quite often when a teacher is absent we sit in the cafeteria to complete work under supervision of another staff member.

The district's chromebook does not let me access my language keyboard which make me harder to do in writing assignment.

I came in to this school to make a difference. My students were the best part of the experience. The leadership is was causes high teacher turnover every year. It is ineffective and not on the same page and does not keep students accountable. There is nepotism because the principal is so invested in...

Many AP opportunities, many sport opportunities, safe environment and many clubs and events for the students to participate in. They have an excellent dual immersion program for spanish language and a bio technology track as well.
