Situated in a rural setting within a residential area abundant with trees, Greenwood Elementary is renowned for its academic success. The school opened in 2004 and serves students from prekindergarten through fifth grade with an average student-teacher ratio of around 18-to-one.
The Greenwood Gators are proud to have been recently recognized as one of only six schools in Henrico County to earn the Board of Education Highest Achievement Award. According to Greenwood’s principal, the secret to their success is the “people we hire and surround ourselves with daily.” Currently, 63% of teachers at Greenwood hold an advanced degree.
At Greenwood, students are encouraged to discover their gifts and talents and are provided opportunities, clubs, competitions, and performances to share them. Not only do they have the only cycling room in Henrico County, students here can participate in drumline, debate team, dance team, podcast team, digital art, Greenwood Gents, cheerleading, and much more.
