The Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School celebrates faith and the passionate pursuit of academic excellence in the community of Grosse Pointe Woods, serving preschool through eighth grade students.
Dedicated to developing "strong minds and hearts," Our Lady Star emphasizes studies in religion, reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies in student's elementary years, incorporating technology into the classroom using Epson/Smart/Promethean boards, iPads and laptops. Courses covering Spanish, computers, art and physical education are also provided.
After school care includes help with homework and recreational activities.
Students begin their middle school journey in the sixth grade highlighted by a three-day camping field trip in the fall. Seventh graders participate in advanced algebra and are led to explore their spiritual path visiting the Sacred Heart seminary, ending the year with a class excursion entitled a "Day in Detroit."
Eighth graders prepare to graduate and enter high school, receiving the sacrament of Confirmation in May and participating in a four-day trip to Washington, D.C., among other special outings.
Students may elect to sign up for baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball, supporting Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School's commitment to a lifelong love of learning and leadership.
