A private Catholic school at 1104 Fort Drive, the Divine Redeemer School, enrolls approximately 122 students each school year, kindergarten through eighth grades.
Founded in 1960, its principles are based on inclusivity, academic excellence, service, self-responsibility within a faith-based setting. Kindergarten children are introduced to faith-based learning, Spanish, art and music. Attendance in weekly MASS begins in January each year.
Lower school students, up to fifth-grade, attend MASS each Wednesday, with a curriculum of traditional courses, interwoven with an emphasis on spiritual and academic growth. The students have access to technology and are taught digital literacy, as well as penmanship—equally important in their academia.
Sixth through eighth grade students’ curriculum includes English Language Arts, or ELA, and Spanish to promote writing, correct grammar and the value of literary genres. Religious classes guide them through biblical history and teachings. Traditional courses such as history and math are standard, as well as science, where students can grasp a better understanding of how science is connected to God’s design.
Students have educational field trips throughout the year, and community leaders in law enforcement and the Berkeley County Forensics Unit educate children of their roles within the community. Students, faculty and parents celebrate festivities for All Saints’ Day, Christmas parades, and First Communions.
The Divine Redeemer School’s mission is to educate students of all faiths in a Christ-centered environment. The core values of responsibility, community service, commitment, and faith are the driving forces behind the school’s vision of developing future leaders and good stewards.

This is a middle class working community that truly values solid academics and Catholic education. The class size is small, and the staff is supportive. Spanish lessons begin in kindergarten, the students attend mass weekly, and they have extra curricular activities like robotics and run club.

DRS offers a wonderful learning environment for K3-8th grade.
