Established in 1980, Helen Stacey Middle School is a Title 1 public school in the Westminster Elementary School District. Located at 6311 Larchwood Dr., in the city of Huntington Beach, the school enrolls approximately 935 students and serves sixth through eighth grade. Home of the Cougars, Helen Stacey Middle strives to empower students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens. A California Distinguished School and Title 1 Academic Achievement Award winning school, Helen Stacey Middle provides a strong curriculum in the core subjects of language arts, math, science, social studies and physical education. The school also provides an extensive selection of electives including computer science, drama, a course in exploring cultures around the world, guitar, band, speech & debate and yearbook. Helen Stacey Middle is an environmentally conscious school and sponsors a garden club for students who enjoy gardening. The gardening club features a student’s Farmer’s Market and provides students with an opportunity to learn how to grow plants. Additional clubs that focus on creating community and bonding with peers include the National Junior Honors Society Club, the Leadership Club and the Dodgeball Club. Helen Stacey Middle sponsors a competitive athletics department featuring football, soccer, badminton, volleyball, basketball and track.

In my experience, I had experience being bullied in the seventh grade. The school had safety policies such as practicing lockdowns and having assemblies where teachers had demonstrated the proper procedures in an emergency situtation.
