GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I'm in high school now but I wouldn't wish Highland on anyone. Worst place to figure out who you are unless you don't ever want to think for yourself.

Too many average but highly paid union affiliated teachers. Illinois has some of the highest property taxes which go almost entirely to the schools. My daughter was lucky to get a good math teacher, my son had a terrible math teacher. There are students with anxiety and depression and are meds for this, also ADHD drugs for boys seem to be prevalent. I don't know if this is the school or a nation wide trend. I would like to see the budget for special education, I am guessing the school spends an inordinate amount on this.

The culture and tone of the school is very anti-parent. It is not a collaborative learning environment. The principal does not work well with parents. The regular education teachers do not work well with special education children, either. It was a very frustrating three-years for my child. We transferred from an excellent school (Oak Grove School in Green Oaks) and regret our decision.

When the pandemic hit, they went out of their way to make the middle schoolers feel a sense of normalcy in what was a crazy time. Over my 3 children's years there, I have ample examples of...

Great school and teachers. The parents and kids are friendly. Have a good opportunity to volunteers during the school year. The regular and advances classes are good curriculum.

I graduated last year so having gone through a pandemic with this school was awful! 6th was good, however the amount of homework seemed a bit excessive but nothing impossible to get done. 7th grade was fine but then the pandemic hit and everyone including most of the teachers seemed to stop caring/s...

I don't understand the low score for the school. The kids perform well on their tests, you can even watch the most recent Board Meeting where the scores are discussed. The teachers are wonderful and if your child has an issue, they're happy to discuss it with them, if it's pertaining to their class,...
