GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

For a small school, Houston does many things well but falls behind on caring for their students as a whole. The turn around in teachers has made it difficult to build a united community.

I moved to Houston last August and was enrolled at Houston High School. I noticed that it was a lot different from where I came from. Most teachers are very nice and caring about students' education, though I've come across some who weren't very attentive and caring. The clubs an activities are very good. There are a large variety of clubs and are run efficiently.

I loved Houston High School for many reasons, mostly with its tight-knit community and staff/faculty that are genuine and caring people who do a lot for every student at the school. The only thing that was lacking to me is funding and proper resources for the drama department. Other schools near our district clearly had more money and donors to afford theater spaces, tech for shows, etc., but I think Houston could do more for giving the drama department the attention it deserves.

Very Bad school! Bullying is out of hand. Principal will only defend the ones doing the bullying since they are the local kids. If the issue is pushed then 1 kids gets a slap on the hand but then 10 kids retaliate. If at all possable find a different school. Dont subject you children to this school.
