Best Elementary School is an Alief Independent School District campus located in Houston’s Westwood neighborhood. This pre-k through fourth grade school serves about 765 students, and the school mascot is the bulldogs.
At Best Elementary, educational offerings include bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL), Gifted and Talented (GT) and special education programming. On average, teachers at Best Elementary have about a decade of experience.
Best Elementary is located within walking distance of many Westwood apartments and is even adjacent to Forum Park, one of the neighborhood’s main greenspaces. The campus is even the site of a SPARK park, a playground open to community access during non-school hours.
Though Best Elementary is located in an area of Westwood known for crime, recent efforts have been made to support student and community safety. Ahead of the 2022 school year, a new fence was installed around Best Elementary’s playground, and authorities have renewed efforts to make the area a safer place to live and learn.
Best Elementary is also involved in advancing the local community, as evidenced by the opening of the Best Elementary Family Center, a program that offers language, fitness, GED, citizenship/DACA, financing, resume help and much more.
