Francis Scott Key Middle School, a Houston Independent School District campus, serves Trinity-Houston Gardens’ sixth through eighth grade students. Originally established in 1957, Key Middle School is located at the original site of Kashmere High School.
Key Middle School offers students a variety of academic programming, including pre-advanced placement, gifted and talented, fine arts, and English-as-a-second-language (ESL) classes. It is also home to a fine arts magnet school program, offering courses in classical and jazz music, visual and performing arts, and dance. Students at Key Middle can get involved in extracurricular activities, including sports—football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track and field—and the arts—theater, dance and band.
Key Middle School is one of Houston ISD’s newest Verizon Innovative Learning campuses. Through a partnership with the Verizon Foundation, all students, teachers and administrators receive a Chromebook for learning and professional or academic development. These devices also offer access to the internet outside the classroom.
A Title I campus, the teachers and staff are dedicated to student success. In 2020-2021, Key Middle was recognized by the district as a Gold Certified Family Friendly School. This achievement honors the commitment in partnering with Trinity-Houston Gardens’ community members to advance student achievement.

Great. Key gets a bad rep from what is told by the media. The school is nothing like the "outside" perceives it to be.

Worst school ever! Wouldn't recommend this school to my worst enemy. Fights every day, teachers yelling line they are crazy in the hallway And swearing to students in class.
