Located at 11100 Stancliff Rd., Klentzman Intermediate School enrolls about 1,000 5th-6th grade students. The school focuses on STEAM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Its motto is, "Building STEAM—One Track at a Time!"
Since the school’s namesake, Mary Ivana Klentzman, founded the Alief school district’s creative arts program, it’s only fitting that Klentzman is strong in the Arts track of STEAM. The award-winning string orchestra is one of the school's best-loved creative arts programs. Involvement in the orchestra has equipped numerous Klentzman Tigers to earn music scholarships to attend music camps and take private lessons.
For students who prefer STEM, Klentzman offers a STEM Academy with an advanced curriculum to incoming 5th- and 6th-graders who meet academic requirements. If there are more applicants than available spaces, Academy participants are selected by an open lottery process.
A Klentzman program open to all students is Children Interacting Afterschool, better known by its acronym of CIA. CIA students enjoy snacks, homework help, and fun activities to aid their social, emotional, and academic development.
Overall, Klentzman students need some help academically, as their test scores are well below the state average. However, they’re making acceptable year-over-year academic progress.

I’ve heard a teacher calling student “stupid” and “idiots”. This place does not uplift their students, they belittle and bully them. All the teachers seem to love to scream at students every chance they get.

Unfortunately was great school in the last 2 years especially with special education with mis brown now the students sell the wheed in the restrooms

My daughter went to this school last year and she was doing the best I have ever known in any other school. She actually enjoyed going to school. The Teachers and Staff that I've met was all very nice and caring.
