Located on South Wilcrest Drive, the academically distinguished STEP Charter Elementary School is part of a two-school charter network in Texas. Since the other school in the network is located on Bissonnet Street, the South Wilcrest Drive campus is often called STEP Wilcrest. STEP Wilcrest is tuition-free and open to anyone who wants to apply. The K-8 school has around 500 students enrolled. After completing prerequisites, students can take courses in architecture, ceramics, design, printmaking, sculpture, video and film production and textiles. In the music lane, there are also some attractive, uncommon offerings. STEP Charter Elementary offers band, chamber music, jazz, opera, orchestra and rock band. To round things out, STEP students can also take dance and drama. The school also provides students with iPads and laptops to enhance learning online. Classrooms come equipped with document cameras and projectors. Outside of school, students take educational field trips throughout all grades to learn more about the real world. This is an outstanding school with 3 campuses. They are a public charter school that provides high quality instructions link an elite private school.

Far from a safe and nurturing environment. I find the principle to be passive aggressive and aloof in regards to children safety, bullying, etc. Teachers there are also not very personable and like to tell you things after the fact not very proactive with learning or discipline. School lacks an over...

There is no family engagement. The communication is the worst! I couldn't even log on anywhere to see my child's grades. There are bullies in this school and the superintendent does not take them seriously. He doesn't even like meeting with parents. He avoids parents or he doesn't like to be confron...
