GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My Waltrip experience overall has been a very positive and different experience from playing different sports to joining the National Honor society group there's lots of different clubs sports and administrators are very helpful as well as the teachers there's a very diverse student selection as well as staff I would also like to commend the custodians. But with the good there's also some bad the temperature in the school was very very warm like to the point your sweating also for some reason when students needed lockers the staff would never unlock and let the students use them.

Waltrip High School has a great AP Capstone program, and CTE pathways. The best part of this school is the bond you create with the teachers they really want to see you succeed. There are great teachers and i've learned so much from them. There is plenty of AP classes to take and DC too. The worse part is probably just how short the lunch period is, other than that everything is good. I would like to see some changes and maybe add some IB classes and more electives choices.

Good and fun school. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Many academic clubs and programs. The musics and arts are fun and there is a wide diversity.

I have two children attending Waltrip with very different personalities and interests. They are both thriving and feel supported by their teachers. I love the staff and administration and feel my kids are in a safe environment.

I have two kids at this school and even despite all of the changes in HISD, they are happy and learning. Many of their favorite teachers have left but many are hanging on. The kids at the school are respectful and I am on campus often and see a positive learning environment. My kids play lots of spo...

In my personal experience teachers will make sure you are passing but with your personal permission, what i mean is that if you aren’t trying they won’t try either, they’ll give you the minimum if they know you don’t care about your grades like they do. I feel like some teachers don’t care about you...

Since Waltrip has gotten a new principal, the dynamic of the school has changed in a positive way (students are getting to class in a timely manner and not congregating in the hallways and bathrooms). Both students and staff are kind and respectful.
