Has plenty of resources for clubs and classes, and is diverse. Unfortunately, there are fights in the school, and food is the same quality as anywhere in NY public schools, so not the best.

Everything about the school reeks unprofessionalism, from how we were spoken to, and how our case was handled.

I would go back to this school, the only thing i would change is how much importance I put into my education. I would take advantage of every single opportunity they gave me and i would work 100 times harder than I did. I would try to reach my full potential.

Bottom line : unless your child is in honors, and even then to some degree, the school is a madhouse. Kids do whatever they want whenever they want with zero recourse. Fighting, cursing, c assaults are routine. Most of the students have zero discipline at home clearly and no interest in learning any...

Both of my children attended IS 51 and had a great experience. Mr. Mele has done a fantastic job at turning around a once terrible school. This school is a mini prison they could careless about your child's safety. They have gang activity drugs sex bullying smoking and the staff does nothing.
