I attended Hathaway High School starting in the 6th grade. I am originally from Lake Charles and attended St John Elementary. My bonus dad (stepdad) is from Hathaway and wanted to move to the country with a better school. It was a cultural shock at first (I am bi-racial) and the school is majority Caucasian kids. After the first year, I gained the closest knit friend group I could ask for. The smaller schools may not offer a wide variety curriculum wise but it does have more of a personal, close knit vibe. Now being a junior, I can't believe my time at HHS is coming to an end; it's bittersweet.

Hathaway High School is a very sports and community orientated high school that focuses on building bonds with not only the students but the rest of the community as well. However, the school does have a problem with picking good, hard-working staff members; not all of them are bad however there are a select few who should not have passed the hiring process.

The teachers/school sponsors/school representatives are actively involved in extracurricular activities. In addition, these leaders not only notify the students of the different clubs/extracurricular activities, but also encourage participation, and always make themselves readily available to create the best club possible for the students.
