Junction Elementary School, home of the Cardinals, is a public elementary school located in the southwest Argentine neighborhood off of South 42nd Street near Matney Park. The school serves local neighborhoods and is one of four elementary schools in the Turner School District of Kansas City, Kan.
Junction Elementary School’s mission is to “create a learning environment which promotes productivity, responsibility, and self-reliance” within each student. At Junction Elementary School, learning is not just a passive activity; it is a responsibility shared among the students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community. Everyone is required to help meet students’ academic, social, emotional and physical needs.
The Turner School District and its schools believe in the power of technology. Every student is assigned an iPad. Many assignments are posted with Schoology, a learning and teaching software. Schoology offers a parent portal for monitoring of a child’s assignments, academic progress and more.
Students interested in athletics can participate in numerous sports through the Turner Recreation Commission of Kansas City, and fifth grade students can participate in other extracurricular activities such as band and STARBASE KC — a five-day, hands-on STEM learning program.
