Their vision is to “empower students to be leaders of their tomorrow,” and they strive to develop leaders who will make the world a more just place. Brookside is one of 21 public charter schools in Kansas City and is open to all students in the Kansas City Public School District. It is publicly funded yet has the flexibility to design its curriculum around its students’ needs. Over 700 students from Pre-K through 8th grade attend Brookside Charter, and their goal is to continue expanding so they can accept more students. The school places a lot of importance on developing leadership skills in the students. Their motto is “Enter to Learn, Exist to Lead,” and their goal is to prepare students for success in life beyond Brookside through rigorous academics and leadership skills development. Pre-K is project-based learning that focuses on learning by doing. Staff tries to handle bullying when reported. They have guidelines that they have to go by and it isn't always what students or parents want to hear.

The staff is excellent! I have been to many schools and this is the first time that I truly feel as if the staff members know the students by name. They care for each student. That is something you don't get everywhere.

The staff is disrespectful and the pray on each other and new teacher and if they don't like them they will then plot on how to get you fired.. They allow threatening statements from teachers to kids, they allow the teachers to use unappreciated language.. If you seem you will be a problem for them...
