Kentucky Avenue School is a small, vibrant, independent school located in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood. KAS serves diverse students from kindergarten through eighth grade. We offer small classes, a child-friendly environment, skilled teaching, and a challenging curriculum conveyed through both traditional and innovative methods. KAS is a Let's Move Champion School and has the only lunch program in the area that prepares and serves fresh and healthy lunches on site.

This wonderful school has made my child so great about themselves. My child feels strong as a person, and a learner. Their teachers care about them deeply. The community took us in quickly and we are proud to be apart of it. If I had to do it all over again, KAS would be my first choice for my child and my family.

This will be our 5th year here. Small classes. Big ideas. --this school embodies this very tagline. Individualized attention. The teachers are VERY in tune with the children, especially from a social perspective, and are great communicators with parents. Close-knit school community. Parents are very involved. involvement.

I really enjoyed the small classes. All of the students were very close and comfortable with the teachers which helped teachers understand students and their needs.
