With almost 1,000 students in grades 6-8, Hardin Valley Middle School in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee, is one of the highest-ranked middle schools in the district. HVMS opened in August 2018 to alleviate overcrowding in nearby middle schools. Its opening also meant students in Hardin Valley can complete their entire public education career in their own community without having to go to Farragut or Karns for middle school. Hardin Valley Middle school’s student-athletes can participate in boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, swim, football, and track and field. Students can also participate in various performing arts opportunities including instrumental and vocal music. Knox County provides bus services to middle school students who live more than 1.5 miles from their zoned school, meaning that students within that 1.5-mile radius must find other transportation to school. For walkers, there are sidewalks between HVMS and the Lancaster Ridge, The Glen at Hardin Valley, Brighton Farms, Laurel Ridge, Windermere Trail, and Connors Creek subdivisions. This is decent school if your child is neuro-typical or gifted. However, if you have a child with an IEP, I would look at other schools.
