Overall a great experience with amazing students, teachers, and staff. The academics are challenging but in a good way. I would like to see more honor classes and ap opportunities for sophomores. I would also love to see more diversity in the students and faculty.

Started our child in Kindergarten which was a great year and intro to the school. Everything after 5 our years we noticed a sharp decline in academics and music arts. It wasn't so much the established curriculum rather the teachers and staff chosen to execute the plan. 1/3 of the teachers we saw were very competent and the remaining 2/3 were either teachers/staff floating by or really have no business teaching at the institution. The reality we saw from the bottom tier makes this school an expensive "public school-like community." We simply are not getting what we paid for. Head of Lower School was recently replaced and now the Head of School is retiring... I fear the vast majority of remaining staff set in their ways still won't allow the necessary changes to take place. Good Luck to the school.

I attended La Jolla Country Day for 12 years and loved every year of it. In high school, I found that all the teachers were supportive and willing to help me out if I needed it. There are many clubs and flexes available that you can participate in. Some of the athletic teams are really good, and some aren't, but they are still really fun to participate in. It is a very safe campus, the security guards are well-trained. The campus is also very pretty.

We love LJCDS! Our daughter started in Jr. Kindergarten and is now a 1st grader. From the teachers/staff, to the hands-on learning, to the wealth of enrichment opportunities, our experience at Country Day has been nothing short of phenomenal. Our daughter looks forward to going to school each day an...

We have a 6th grader (middle school) and 3rd grader (lower school) at LJCDS. We love the progressive style of teaching with the emphasis on developing both the character and intellect of students. (They use "dignity" as a foundation for character development.) Academics are rigorous with plenty of o...

My children have loved their experience at Country Day. The teachers/administration provide a great education while promoting collaboration and kindness. We feel fortunate that our children have such a strong and supportive community of parents, teachers and friends. We highly recommend this school.
