GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

It kind of sucks as a high school. Not many things to do except sports. The administration is horrible. Many times the whole school would be out sick and they would not care. If you happened to be out sick they would still give you truency not caring.

Macon County is a smaller rural school district. It is a good match for me, similar to the colleges I am looking at. Being small, we may lack a few things in the way of school amenities, but the teachers and counselors do a great job of getting us ready for college. I like the teachers being able to know everyone in school.

Macon County High School overall is a great school. However, what I would really like to see change would be the food.

I am a student at MCHS and it sucks! This school is like a prison. We don't have anything fun to look forward to. They took everything away. The food they feed us is awful. They are more worried about PDA and dress code than education. There isn't really any teacher there that I feel comfortable tal...

Other than having teachers that do not want to educate, there is nothing that can get us, the students, excited about going to school. Pep rally's, exciting fundraisers, and caring faculty were the best ways that made my freshman year great... However, the principal took a turn for the worse and cut...

Honestly I think MCHS could do a lot better. I'm currently a student and I regret ever coming here. The teachers care more about our dress code and name tags more than our education. I come to school to get a better job and/or go to college in the near future, not impress everyone by the way I dress...
