GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The teachers, staff, and coaching are fantastic, but the disciplinary actions were poor for misbehaving students.

Kern Valley High Schoolis a small school in Lake Isabella. It averages around 450 kids in total and each graduating class is around 100 kids. The small number of students allows a tight knit community where everyone knows and supports each other. Overall its a fantastic school, thought it mainly focuses on STEM related programs and sports rather than on art and music.

I like that it is a small town school. I like the clubs and programs I've been able to be a part of and experience. I like most of my teachers. I really wish the school could have a better handle on the students who don't choose to follow school guidelines.

Kern Valley HIgh is a typical small town school with unacceptably low standards and no accountability.
