GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I liked how it was smaller than most schools, so you knew everybody, and there was never much drama. I didn't like how some of the classes were taught and rules that had to be followed. But I loved my many years at Lake Linden and the friendships I've built and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

Lake Linden is a amazing school. In grades 6-8 I went to lake linden and had to transfer to Houghton high school. Then for 11th and 12th grade I came back to Lake Linden. During my high school years at Houghton I realized the teachers are not as one on one, there was also a lot more drama and fights and just was not the school for me and not my style of learning. But when I transferred back to lake linden my grades went up I got lots of one on one help. The teachers are very kind and they want to make sure you succeed. Also the kids and people here are all so nice to each other, we are all friends and its just a very nice school to be involved in.

It is a good high school with very nice people but it seems like they focus way too much on sports and not enough on preparing you for college. I have used some Chemistry and Physics knowledge from high school to help me in those classes at college but that is about all. They don't have any sort of Pre-Calc class or any AP classes whatsoever and taking Calculus 1 my first semester was very tough. They did offer early college which helped with getting some gen-ed classes out of the way but they didn't prepare us for a STEM education very much at all. However, if you were going for a history or English major, I am sure it would have been much more helpful.
