At Garfield Middle School, learning is an ongoing adventure. Through the doors, you’ll find sixth through eighth grade students from the eastern half of Lakewood and over 30 full-time teachers creating memorable learning experiences. Garfield’s leadership believes in fostering a fun environment that prioritizes academics and social-emotional learning. Students receive extensive lessons in the core academic subjects and benefit from integrated problem-solving tasks.
Your student will be warmly welcomed at Garfield, where staff, parents and students work together to create a new student orientation. This collaborative project helps participating students empathize with newcomers and gives them the chance to be part of a team effort.
Garfield creates an experiential education where students explore musical and artistic interests, literacy, mathematics, science and history. Over 30 clubs are available for students to join, such as Ski Club, Soccer Club or Girls on the Run. If your student is more focused on games, they can join Chess Club, Math Game Club or Video Game Club. For young people interested in team sports, Garfield offers nine different options.

We have had a wonderful experience in Garfield middle. The staff is amazing. The class sizes are perfect. I have 2 kids in the school now and I am very pleased!

once i threw up but the school nurse didnt believe me and i got sent back to class and gave everyone a stomach virus. also the special ed kids are forced to clean the windows and nearby restaurants. they usually have to walk but if the weather is bad enough they get a bus.
