Nestled in a residential area in eastern Lakewood, Harrison Elementary School strives to create a cooperative and communicative learning community. The school is part of the Lakewood City School District and serves about 260 students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. Harrison Elementary School promotes cultural awareness and inclusivity. The campus has a cultural rock garden made up of rocks hand-painted by students, the hallways are decorated with maps of the world and the word hello posted on the walls in different languages. The school is also supported by the Harrison Garden Club, which is part of the Lakewood Green Team. The club grows a garden on the school grounds. Students regularly are sent home with fresh produce and recipe ideas for using the high-quality ingredients. By providing fresh fruits and vegetables in this way, Harrison Elementary is helping students extend the home-to-school connection, making students feel more invested in their learning.

Wonderfully positive, diverse school community here. Ms. Crawford is a fabulous principal, the teachers are highly experienced, and having a global perspective is a core value. (Note: Harrison’s test scores may be lower on average because English is not the first language of many students.)

Harrison has been amazing, they have education nights where parents come in & get info on what kids are learning, the teachers communica...
