Seldens Landing Elementary School (Seldens Landing) opened in August 2001 on Coton Commons Drive in Leesburg. Seldens Landing’s history dates back to pre-Civil War days when the land that sits on the Virginia side of the Potomac River was sold to Dr. Wilson Cary Selden, Sr.
Educating approximately 600 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade, Seldens Landing is ranked number 527 among Virginia elementary schools and number 30 in Loudoun County Public Schools’ elementary schools. Additionally, recent student proficiency testing shows students at more than 80% percent proficiency in math and reading.
Seldens Landing students are proud to be Cardinals, and to have opportunities to participate in art, music, and production of their own morning news broadcast. The school also offers Special Education, Gifted Education, physical education, an English Language Learner program and a reading program that encourages a lifelong love of reading.
To uphold Seldens Landing’s motto to be a “caring, learning community,” the school’s philosophy is to “continuously improve efforts to create conditions essential for the success of all students.”
The school’s mission is to educate children for the 21st century by providing a safe, positive learning environment that is responsive to individual needs.

SLES is a wonderful school with a wonderfully supportive new administration. Most of the teachers are very caring and student focused. Many of the parents are very supportive.
