There are a few very good teachers, but many of the teachers don't teach. They just assign work. The English department is lacking. I think the weak administration is the reason we have some very poor teachers and many that get away with such inappropriate things.

The teachers care about their students. The community is welcoming and positive. We have a great sense of school spirit. Students are competitive, but not at the expense of others. There is a wide variety of classes students can take. There are also a lot of clubs and if you want to create your own it is relatively easy. There is a good balance in my school! Somers High School has helped me prepare for college. I have made lifelong friends here!!

Somers High School has great teachers. I enjoyed my time there, but I felt uncomfortable in class a handful of times, meaning that there should have been better safety. Further, an alarming amount of bullying occurred. Further, there needs to be more help from the counselors for the students when applying to college.

Somers has been a great school district for my kids. The high school has many wonderful teachers who truly care about their students. The administration is terrible, from the superintendent down. The ratings are plummeting. Bullying and drug use are at an all time high and no one is paying attention. Parents are pulling their students and paying for private school. Enrollment is dropping in record numbers.

Very little academic support given in later years. Teachers can be rude. Over-rated district. Also, very limited options when it comes to clubs. The only thing they are known for is their football team.
