Field Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade and is part of Jefferson County Public Schools. Field prides itself on its strong sense of community and offers a large number of extracurricular activities such as sports teams, art activities and academic clubs. It has an award-winning robotics team and its special programs include Mandarin Chinese language classes, musical theater, and musical instruction in band and orchestra.
The stated mission of Field Elementary is to “work collaboratively using a guaranteed, viable, and relevant curriculum to ensure all will be proficient, well-rounded, and have a thirst for learning in a safe and protective environment.”
The school was opened in 1915 and is nestled in a residential neighborhood between Frankfort Avenue and Lexington Street. With ample green space, an outdoor classroom and a community garden on the campus, the school provides students with an abundance of nature-based experiences.
Special education is provided with a moderate-and-severe-disabilities classroom and an autism classroom. All of the students at Field Elementary are given a Chromebook that has built-in WiFi. The school's faculty has a high percentage of teachers with a master’s degree or higher education level, and an average of 14 years of teaching experience.

It's been one of the worst years of my life as a parent. The school has literally made things worse. it really is a shame and we would love things to improve, but I doubt they can.

We love Field! Our daughter is in the second grade and is really thriving there. The teachers and staff care so much about the students and really want the students to succeed.
