A.L. Burruss Elementary School is a private elementary school within the Southwest Marietta neighborhood. As a an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) World School, the school is committed to providing a student-centered learning environment where students are encouraged to utilize critical thinking, logic, and care, in hopes of helping them to become life-long learners, prone to global-thinking and being active, contributing members of society. This environment includes Spanish as a second language courses, the M.I.L.E. Gifted Program, and Advanced Content Reading and Math Classes. Along with in-class instruction, students have outdoor classrooms and other opportunities to stretch their minds in nature, including the Project Learning Garden and the Beaver Trail. Such a commitment to student progression has garnered the school several honors and accolades over the years, including be named a National School of Excellence, a Georgia School of Excellence, and a Title I Distinguished School. A.L. Burruss is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Most students matriculate to other institutions within the IB PYP World School network, such as Marietta Sixth Grade Academy, Marietta Middle School, and Marietta High school. As such, students of A.L. Burruss Elementary are set up for success.

We have had a very positive experience at Burruss. Our student has thrived here. We appreciate how this small school embraces and celebrates its diversity and supports its students from all backgrounds. The sweet, small, neighbor community feel cannot be understated.

When we were moving to Marietta, we knew we wanted to be a part of Marietta city schools, and I’m so thankful that we landed at Burruss! The teachers at Burruss really care for our students and their academic achievement. Most importantly, the community that this school has developed is unmatched!
