West Side Elementary School encourages students to develop talents and master skills needed for success. need for future success. The school offers a rich curriculum, complemented by a gifted program to keep accelerated learners going strong. Weekly specials in art, music, PE, STEM (science, technology, education and mathematics) and innovation enhance the program. West Side also offers extracurricular activities that range from a daily student-produced news show to a drama club that’s supported by The Strand Theater.
Established in 1949, West Side Elementary School enrolls roughly more than 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The campus has a playground and gymnasium that were renovated in 2019, a multimedia production room, and a garden and greenhouse. The school touts an accomplished faculty, with 80% of teachers holding advanced degrees and 75% of teachers holding gifted endorsements.

Almost no one is diverse here. It's a bunch of upper-middle class white people, and a lot of their parents went to school together, so everyone is very similar. The actual teaching part is good, but it's just that the other people there are all very like-minded, and nothing is ever challenged.
